This basic cookie dough is fantastic. This recipe called for the basic ingredients with orange zest added. I was able to use my zester again. That is an indispensable tool to have on hand in the kitchen. If you don't want to spend the money on an expensive one my husband, the finish carpenter tells me you can pick one up at the hardware store for under $5.00. It is called a drywall rasp and is exactly the same thing. I was low on jelly so my last batch I filled with nutella it is good but not as awesome as I thought it would be. The ones with the raspberry jam have more flavor. I did not get 5 dozen out of this recipe I think it is because I made them to big, they took much longer than the time indicated in the recipe. Overall a very simple user friendly cookie.

Danielle the thumb prints look great, by the cookie being a little larger makes me want to stick my finger in the jam and take a lick. The Nutella was a good idea I wonder about mixing peanut butter and jelly and filling them. L. Mom
ReplyDeleteLove your improvising with the Nutella. My family really liked both versions of this one. I am amazed that one basic cookie dough recipe can be varied just ever so slightly to make a completely different cookie!
