Since completing my first spot as guest baker, I can confidently say it’s not about the cookies…it’s about the friendship. Everyone expected these cookies to be baked, completed, and tackled on Laurie time, which would be about 4am. To their surprise my baking began at midnight and wrapped up at 2AM. So I was actually ahead of schedule without cheating. I did manage to sleep from 2-5:30ish, but had to forgo my morning exercise. All in the name of friendship:) The recipe was very easy to follow. It was not complicated and the cookies turned out like the picture and tasted delicious!! My husband ate 5 before they were even cool. The best part of this recipe is that it is Matt friendly and he LOVES them!:) Matt is my son who has severe milk and peanut allergies and there are not many tasty cookies that he can have. This recipe is a blessing for him! I owe Shelly a thank you because she was kind enough to include me in the baking adventure and realizing that the recipe was ok for Matt. If it wasn’t for Shelly sacrificing her baking day I would never have known this would be so perfect for Matt.
When I heard what my friends were undertaking I was so grateful that I was not included in the baking rotation:) However, it does make me smile daily to read about their baking. I'm so glad that I was able to join them as a guest baker!

I have to say I have not really been emotional through this whole thing with you guys. I should have known that could not last. Laurie your post is beautiful!! It made me cry. I am so happy Matt is able to have these cookies. They are Kurts favorite and I am sure you noticed it's his mom's recipe. You guys are truly amazing women and I am so happy to have you all as friends.

ReplyDeleteGosh, Laurie...you make me sound like such a good friend and not just a lazy baker like some of my friends (who shall remain nameless) believe me to be! You didn't mention in your blog that you had to work 2 shifts at work during your baking day which makes you a wonderful friend for taking this project on! I love how we are on opposite schedules-you start at midnight and I am rushing to finish up by midnight! I am so glad that you had a good time and that Matt likes the cookies. I really love how spicy they are and may have to make them myself...after the 16 other cookies i am scheduled to bake, of course!
